The Guild members are community ambassadors with the common goal to teach
, lead, and empower youth through workshops and art exhibitions throughout the GTA.
We promote the technique of Modern Batik and other art disciplines. We aim to give youth opporunities to discover their communities by using their artistic talents and to utilize their newfound technique in entrepreneurship for the future.
Who are we?
The Guild is a united body of young Modern Batik enthusiasts between the ages of 14 and 25 who participated in Modern Batik Workshops through the "Train the Trainer" workshops facilitated by MicroSkills.
These workshops were delivered in different locations two at-risk communities (Jamestown and Jane-Finch), and also at high schools throughout the city. Youth who demonstrated a passion for this new media were given the opportunity to teach throughout the summer months at libraries around the city.
