Rachita started drawing when she was three years old. The medium was a pencil and the surface was her living room wall. She moved on to paper soon after much to the relief of her mother. Today, Rachita is 19 years old and has worked with pencils, pens, paints and pastels, and now dyes and cloth. She discovered Modern Batik through an after school program which presented her the opportunity to learn a brand new art form as well as teach this art in her community. She has made many Batik paintings over the time, all of which she loves. She firmly believes that making a painting takes more than just pencils and paints; it requires the artists to love the work that she produces.
Rachita is currently in her second year of University. She spends all her spare time making art and hopes to create a lot more modern Batik pieces in the future.
